“I don't have half a day for this” — what inspectors actually tell us

Over the past few weeks a lot of feedback has come in — by email and phone — from people using TUZKEMPRO on the job. Not just fire and safety specialists; users from other fields too. Here are a few, in their own words.

“I don't have half a day for this”

One specialist rang me before he'd even signed up, to ask what the whole thing actually was. I told him straight: it's about half a day at the computer to set up your details, upload your signature and build your templates. After that, everything on site is easier — the report is done minutes after the walkthrough.

His answer: he didn't have half a day for it.

Then he sat down and did it anyway. He uses it happily now, and we're still in touch. The half day was a one-off — it pays back on every single walkthrough. What surprised me most across the whole period: even the ones who started out sceptical came back positive.

“Good that it wasn't an empty screen”

The comment that came up most often: it matters that a new user isn't met by a blank page, but by a finished sample inspection. Several people said that's what helped most in the first few days — seeing it work before they had to start their own. It's far easier to grasp how the end result comes together from a worked example.

The photo as a safety net

One specialist told me he'd never put photos in his reports before. Now he's realised the photo is exactly the safety net you lean on after a dispute or a claim — and he doesn't work without them any more. A picture makes it indisputable that this was the state of things, there, then. That's not admin. It's the professional protecting themselves.

I'm the same. I've produced photo-documented reports since 2004. On one large city utility, where I worked as an external chemical-safety adviser for over ten years, I inspected more than 70 sites a year. Nobody's memory holds all that — the next year it was far easier to recall what I'd found with the picture sitting next to the note.

A colleague put it more bluntly: “Miss out, and you get left behind.”

Four sites, smoother work

One piece of feedback came from a company. Their technical manager rolled it out across four sites. Since the maintenance team started using the app, he said, the work runs far more smoothly — findings are captured consistently, in one place, everyone can see the deadlines, and when a job's done they mark it in the app. Nothing falls through the cracks between sites.

Clients notice too

Another specialist told me how his clients react — how much they value the new report format: photo, finding, task, risk, deadline, all in one place, clear. What's clearer for the client is faster for the specialist too: fewer queries, quicker fixes.

Why write this down?

Not to show off. Because an honest word from a working specialist counts for a great deal — it's how I know we're heading the right way. And because a lot of people watch the trade quietly: maybe it helps you, too, to see what others have found.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to say what they think.
